I was just wondering if anyone had a similar problem or knows what is wrong. I have an ef falcon and when i put my foot on my breake, the brake lights don't come on. The globes seem to work as they come on when i turn the car lights on. The fuse is also in tact. Does anyone know what it could be?
Could it be the brake switch? I replaced it recently...

I payed less than $6.00 (that's employee price, retails like $10) for my Nice switch from Repco. First one was busted in the package, second one works fine!

Could it be the brake switch? I replaced it recently... The problem will almost definately be the brake light switch. However just because the globes work when you turn the lights on doesn't mean the globes are ok. Brake/Tail light globes are a twin filiment globe. The brake curcuit uses the higher wattage filiment than the tail lights. This is how they get brighter when you brake. What can happen is one filiment may fail the globe appears to still work on the other curcuit. So the only way to test your brake lights is to push in the brake pedal.

I wish I had have knovn this a while ago, I had been chasing my problem for over 2 weeks as I thought it had to do with my trailor plug. I checked the brake light switch and that was the problem (I just ran a wire from one side of the plug to the other).

I have the same problem with my EF Fairmont - got the car for two & half months and only found out today. I have'nt got a manual yet, so any tips on where to find the switch and how to test/replace it will be appreciated.

I have fitted braded lines and since then I have to apply brakes real hard before they come on...They need adjusting...

Did you bleed the brakes correctly? If they feel spongy after braided lines, theres a fair chance that theres air in the lines somethwhere
