sorry guys if its been said before but i couldnt seem to find it. anyay has any one put a broadbant manifold on a log manifold motor????
does it do any better ? also do you have to whats the go with the ecu do you just swap the ecus so the valves will work??? is everything about the ecu the same apart from this feature??? i currently have a 3 inch pipe should i just stick with it or is the broadband manifold worth it?? please set me straight hahh cheers

iv seen it done its ment to give a nice power and torque increese but is a fair bit off work and money im not sure about ecu i thortgh it was vacume controled...?

Yes it is vac controlled from a solenoid which is operated by the ECU at about 3500rpm.
If you don't change the ECU you can get a kit from Jaycar I think that atteches to the tacho pulse and will switch at what ever rpm you set it at.

You really do need the matching ecu (EL ecu, not ef) to make the most of the manifold. There are also map changes when the runners switch.

will the el ecu plug straight into the eb loom???
is it the same as an eb ecu apart from the bbm feature??? whos done it and is it worth it? did u get more horse??? would appreciate any info on how someone went about doin it cheers

I am interested to see what people have to say about this too. I recently converted to thermos so if it has advatages over the log manifold, and the advantages are decent enough to warrant doing the work, I'll do it.
Very curious.

Its worth doing just to get rid of the old manifold and get some room beklow it. Better induction as well

Yeah hi, I've put an EL ECU, EL Manifold, EL Thermo Fans on my ED, and am impressed with the differences it made.
I paid about $300 all up for the conversion, and it took an entire day to do. Parts required where; *BBM (obviously) *EL ECU which plugs into EB/D loom, but need additional wires *EL Thermo Fans *EL top thermostat housing *Heater pipe from lower thermo housing from EF/L *Heater pipe from water pump around engine block from EF/L *Vacuum release solenoid *EF/L ISC *3 Relays (2 4 pins and one 5 pins) *Some automotive wire *Electrical connectors *New top radiator hose *Rocker cover *Accelerator cable *Accelerator pedal *Air intake tubing *Air Box *Snorkel *Cruise cable from EF/L modified to fit your existing EA-D setup (if applicable) A bit of fiddling about but all in all a good mod. Better low end punch, better throttle response and a huge kick when car passes 3800. About 50-75 km better fuel economy too. Cheers, Mark. |

if your chasing a HP increase then its not going to happen, itll just give you a fatter torque curve below 3500 rpm.
for driveablitiy its a better option, cos a heavy falcon needs the torque to get it off the line...

Oh yeah, your right, horsepower wise I wouldn't think theres much in it, I thin from factory specs they say EB11 and ED are 148kw, and EF/L are 157kw, but there is about 40Nm more of torque, and it's peak is at 3000 rather than 3700rpm, but more is available from 1800rpm than it ever was with the log manifold, and under normal driving, the big six sits between 1500rpm and 2500rpm, which is were the biggest torque increase is.
Driving wise, it feels a lot "nicer" and more responsive. |

all sounds good but for $300 dollers and about the same amount off work you could just put a freash (150 160tho) ef moter in it lot more advantages.....
