Hi all,I recently encounterd a ticking noise from my 4.0L EB .I had it checked out at two different garages and was told it was a collapsed lifter. It was ticking about 6 inches from the back of the rocker cover. Not overly concerned about it I kept driving until it started making some real horrible noises on start up. It was fine when the motor was hot. I took it to the third mechanic and he picked it straightaway .The drive plate had completely cracked all the way round the six crankshaft bolts giving half an inch slop back and forth. Just shows you cant trust first opinions sometimes

i have some crazy rattling sounds that i'm suspecting are a rooted clutch caused by to many crazy take offs. i wonder.... must pull that gearbox out...

Where talking drive plates not flywheels, id say your problem is the thrust bearing.
