Hello Everyone,
New here to Fordmods, I have just turn from Holden over to Ford in buying my new ride Ford Falcon XR6 BA 2003. Now all i hear is this engine has potential. Though i am limited by my P Plate restrictions. So i am looking at building up my new engine to get some more RWKW's. Car at this stage is completely stock. One thing i am unsure of is whether it has Traction Control as there is no TCS on the dash. If so is there a bypass? Okay so the plan is to get some mods going to increase power at the wheels. Such as Headers, Exhaust, Cams, Induction, Diff and finally Tuned. I am after suggestions for Brands, Types, Sizes, Ratio's and Prices. I am in Brisbane so not sure what sort of places to go. Currently doing approx 140RWKW's, Chasing near 180-200RWK Thanks for any advice/suggestions. Last edited by Future on Sat Mar 05, 2011 10:08 pm, edited 3 times in total. |

If its stock it wont be getting 150rwkws......
Probably more like you are not used to the power & torque of an inline 6!!!!! Do the usual mods extractors, exhaust and a XR6T Snorkal should see you in the right direction......

Was thinking of just going the normal stuff, Though if i can spend a few extra $ to get better performance i don't mind spending a few k for the lot. 150rwk was just based of 182 @ flywheel by fords specs. At 20% Loss your doing about 146rwk, Though being auto possibly even up to 25% Loss which would drop to approx 136rkw

hey mate, the list of plans you have is great, just to let you know though you dont chip the BA's, you get them tuned as you have stated, by using the SCT Xcal 3 device, custom tune is the way to go but do that last after all your mods as then you are only paying for one tune.
Cheers Phil

Thanks mate just updated in my thread haha,
Going to go extractors and exhaust first. I always used pacemaker on my commy for headers only because they are popular, Thinking either Redback or Pacemaker as for the exhaust thinking redback mandrel bent system, Will having twin pipe exhaust make any difference? Not wanting it to loud as im trying to keep it looking stock on the outside but don't want to restrict any pressure. |

hey mate, if you want it stock looking and not too loud then dont go a twin if you are going to keep it NA then 2.5inch exhaust is fine, yeah pacemaker are good for the falcons and again the popular choice but hurricane are also up there and alot cheaper (thats what i went with). There are plenty of threads on which headers to use so just try the search function.

i can't reccomend any shops sorry... but!
as of the cams. which you said you wanted to do.. crow cams can be done.. but people that have had them put in say they're a real hassle with tuning, most people with BA's (that have cam work done) go for Atomic cams Stage 2-3 . So there's something to think about!

Thanks mate, Will look in to the Atomic Cams.
Think i am going to get the Pacemaker Headers PH4490 or the PH4495. I can't work out why the competition version has a smaller second chamber |

I can't work out why the competition version has a smaller second chamber The 4495's are better for high end power whereas 4490's are low end. Majority of people go for the 4490's and claim they are much better than the 4495's for street use. As for the diff, standard is 3.45, 3.7 or 3.9s would give you much quicker acceleration but the car will rev higher when cruising so that's something to look out for. Maybe a Stage 2 Shift Kit is worth looking into also? I've been contemplating getting one for myself but don't know enough about them yet. Drop me message if you need any advise or help and I'll do my best. Cheers, Jova. |

Chuck it on a dyno for giggles and then you will have a baseline for future mods by going back to the same dyno (find someone cheap) and when you go for a custom tune later on down the track you will know where you have come from.... What made you switch from the Holden camp??

one of the best mods you could do would to put a underdriven harmonic balancer,
i've only got a straight through exhaust and a cold air intake i made myself, just by doing the cold air intake you'll notice your car will more responsive. |

Thanks Jova thats some good information there, I think ill go the 4490's due to being a daily driver.
@ AU99, As far as i know the egas looses a tad more through the drive train, I may be wrong but yea approx 130rkw sounds about right. I think ill get my work done through Fat Pipes @ Kallangur and get Dyno'd. @ flathead, Ill look into the harmonic balancer. Thanks for the heads up. Looking at Air Induction kits at the moment going with 4490's and Redback 2 1/2" with 2 1/2" High flow cat. Think maybe a res near the end to keep it nice and quiet. Don't want to attract cops. |

Don't want to attract cops. I have an AusPac 2.5" exhaust and I think it's great. It has 2 straight through mufflers with the rear being a twin which then goes into a twin tip. Once it carbons it has a much beefier and deeper sound to it and I've driven past heaps of cops and through Booze Buses and have never been looked at twice. Once I do the rest of the exhaust and I'm not happy with the sound I might switch my front muffler with a resonator. So if your going to go Redback 2.5" catback go with the one that has the 2 straight through mufflers and remember you need to give it about 3000kms to carbon, the tone will be totally different from when you first buy it. Jova. |

Okay Jova, Ill look at the Twin Output... Is there a difference between Mild Steel and Stainless Steel apart from price... and material.
