Hey guys ive been building burnout cars for years and yesterday i was given a $100 dollar bet that i couldnt pull a skid in an old xd falcon sedan on the 26th of this month, that gives me a bit less then 2 weeks.
I want input into what kind of mods i can do before then to get this baby spinning, the only downfall i can see atm is the manual gearbox with the stock peice of s**t diff gears What i have done already: Stripped out the interior Grinded the key barrel off (no steering lock) dropped the fuel tank out Installed a new boat plastic fuel tank and secured inside cab Welded the diff solid (will change to 3:45 if have time) stripped the windows out and have mesh over the front windscreen Welded rear leaf springs solid (No diff-hop) new tyres on front for good grip cheese cutter 185's on the back on 14inch rims (spins faster) removed rear brakes All wiring removed and rewired with only necessary wires(Push button start) Thermo fans for extra cooling Harness Removed exhaust and got dump pipe to just behind front wheels fully sick paintjob (white with black cobra stripes - dodgy) What i want to do to it before the 26th: Shave the head for more compression thought about cam but not convinced i can be finished by the 26th maybe a slipstream for the rear wheels to get them spinning at the start (slip stream: speedway jargon for a hose which goes to ontop of the back wheels and can pump water/soap/lubrication... cheaters burnout mod. Can be used if the motor is working to hard etc. keep in mind the xf is as gutless as s**t) v8 radiator electric fuel pump new radiator hoses new belts maybe swap to an auto gearbox (better for speedway burnouts as there is no loss of motion as gears change) and thats about all i can think of. if you have any other ways i can make this thing go a bit faster i would be much appreciated. thanks guys

not when i have all the parts and tools i need. I build burnout cars and demolition derby cars all year round so this is a breeze for me lol. its more the fact that i can get a free POS xf falcon to do a skid at speedway on the weekend and maybe even win. i like challenging myself

if you have been building burnout cars for years (how many years? as your only 20 lol))you dont need any ideas as you should know how already!!
just by removing the rear brakes is enough to get it to do a good burn out. lol |

sorry i shouldnt say years. to clarify, i have been helping my dad build cars since i was 12, he stopped when i was 14 and i starte don my own when i was 15. so on my own i have been doing it for 6 years, but i have 9years experience if you can call it that. and i asked the question because, i havent built a burnout car with a xflow manual and such a s**t diff ratio before. i knwo they are sluggish and was wondering if there was anything i hadnt thought of to get just that bit more HP out of the old girl. i was thinking maybe sparkplugs, CAI things like that i havent had to worry about before. thanks anyway

fair enough.lol
the old x flow might seem a bit slugish but they still have a fair amount of torque.. and being a manual it should lite the tyres up fairly good.. sounds like fun.lol |

ive actually found that autos do a hell of a lot better in burnout comps then a manual ever will. Its because you dont have to drop the rev's as you change gears. Also burnout pads are a lot different to the road, o lot more stickier thats why you need to be farely confident in your car to do a good skid

or you can just bounce off the rev limiter, my car didnt even do burnouts before i converted it to a manual...

lol if you put your right heel on the brake and the front of your foot on the throttle push hard and flat change it into 2nd lol |

in his case there is no rev limiter on xd except when the valves start bouncing. |

i was just about to say no limitor lol... and yes that is how we do burnouts in a manual lol, but yeah, im not necessarily looking for technique as i am for modifications,
Cheers any way

thats why with a manual, you just stick it in the gear you want befor you start the burnout and drop the clutch a peak revs. |
