When I get out my car and sniff up after a 10minute drive I can smell a burning type of smell, it's from under the bonnet but I have no idea where to look

Under the bonnet would be a good start..................

around the exhaust manifold and cat, could be oil dripping onto them or the accelerator/cruise cables melting.
Once it's warm look for smoke.. |

one of the old engins here had a leak at the front right of the sump gasket.
after driving for a while the oil would drip off the edge of the sump and wind would blow it back onto the exhaust down near the cat converter and it would stink up the place. the whole top of the engine was spotless but the whole bottom right side would get coated in oil. |

this might sound silly but it could very well be your brakes,if i have stoped hard a few times before i get out of my car it usually lets off a smell, especially on my way home from work on my last night
