I Think...
My car has been a carport princess for the last 9 months. A bout a month a go I pulled the Alted Stage 3 (RPD Rspec 4) cam out and put the standard one back in. (Boy do I miss the power, power drops off before redline now ) I also swapped the vernier cam gear over for the original one, and as such had to relieve the cam chain tensioner. I've now got the car back together, and registered again but it sounds literally like a diesel. At first I thought it was a lifter that needed to be pumped up (as per the install guide for the cam - some gental driving should see that fixed in no time) But its still there. Nice fresh oil change, and it still there. It seems worse at idle than with a few revs on board, so I think its the cam chain thats not tensioning. Is there anything I can do to make it tension? What should I be looking form? Thanks for your help ! Adrian

Hey Mate,
Take off the Power Steering pump. And the tensioner is in there. Pull it out. and the bits left inside the block. Clean them all up. Then re assemble and you should beable to lock it in its most inward position. Once you re install that it will pop out and be working again. Good Luck |

Ignore this post.
I just found the problem. I'm an idiot. It's a good reason to double check everything! The moron replacing the original cam forgot to tighten the cam sprocket bolt.
