Shims are all one size if you bye them from ford . you will proberly need to put 2 shims in each lifter but take off your rocker cover, run your engine put your hand on the top of each rocker , if the lifter becomes noisier then that one will need an other shim, go through the others you will find that all will need another shim . 6 x 2 = 12 shims . good luck.

That's what I was wondering.
The rocker gear already have one shim in them, your best bet is to ask Wade if you'll need an extra one or two in there (I.E. two or three total). |

The shims arnt all the same size as EA-EB were bigger than ED-AU. Make sure you specify which seal kit you want when you buy it (the earlier series ones will have little round seals as well as pivit ball baskets whereas the later ones will only have about 14 little round seals about 10mm in dia) dont bother with buying expensive shims from ford, just get some good quality hardened steel washers from a hardware or auto parts store. and before you fit the washers do a measure of the cam lobe base circle with a set of expanding callipers(cheap as) or vernier callipers to get a basic idea of how much you will need to add to your lifter shims. The difference in base circle diametres divided by 2 is what you will need in the way of shims. You dont need to be super accurate as the HLA's will take up the slack but you would prefer the lash to be a little too lose rather than tight or you will get valve float once the engine has warmed up

Got my seal kit the other day says to suit EB - ED - EF 4/93 on. My car being a 94, they look pretty right havent checked them on a lifter yet cant be bothered pulling the whole rocker assy off (AGAIN) hehe. When i go in and get the shims ill just ask for a set of EF shim's because i really gotta get my car going and not sounding like a tank, so ill just get em $20 isnt to bad.
Whats valve float? any running my car with just the stock shims in, i would have been lacking well power + econ yeah?

Ive not used the right term calling it valve float but its meaning will do, what I mean by this is that if you pack up your shims too far then once the operating clearances are taken up by the normal heating of you engine then your valves wont actually seat and therefore they will leak and cause power losses. it wont be an issue so long as when you fit your rockers with the new shims in them, you check all the rockers so that they have a little bit of play between the HLA and the valve stem (between 0.1-0.7mm from memory) you will need to turn over you motor to check all of them.

Hey guys i put the set of extra shims in, and she's all back together now but im still having problems.. It sometimes stalls at idle in D and is a bit sluggish in the low range.. I filled up after i got it all together, and my guage is on 1/4 tank and I've only done 250k's
Im on holidays this week so im probably just gonna take it in to a tuning shop??? unless any1 else has any idea's?
