^^ Nah not at all, it's just that we're fitting my WADE cam on Monday, and was curious how many shims you have on the rocker, might be similar to mine, or different case alltogether.
It's not noisy at the momment. |

Yer it depends on the cam mostly i think.
I know someone had 6 shims on each lifter for their R3 cam. So 3 shims should be alright. But in the end I guess I am find out the hard way |

It's not noisy at the momment. Existing shim + 1 extra 1.9mm shim. NO MORE, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. |

Today I took the rocker gear off again for some more shims, and it runs even better than before. Power everywhere! brillant idle and everything. I went for a decent drive and it didnt over heat at all, so I will be watching it over the next couple days, with lots of distilled water in the boot (and lots of rags) just in case. But it all looks good now, thanks for the input guys. Hmmm. Something doesn't quite add up here. Putting your hand on the rocker cover of ANY motor will be hot !!! If you say it was very hot in your first post (Overheating ) what were the symptoms.. Smell... Water pi**ing out...bubling in the hoses and res tank ? And if extra shims have solved your overheating we all better go back to the drawing board ?? |

Well I suspect it was the lpg running lean or something.
Because apparently the cam can change the vacuum so therefore might affect the lpg converter ??? I also let the ecu run a diagnosis and found only one thermo was working, i got both working now. The shims was for a different problem, which I just posted up that I had done. I know the rocker cover gets hot, but this was really hot. Also couldnt tell by smell, cos a little oil got onto the exhaust manifold = really bad smell. But you could of been right about the gauge earthing out, It was just that temp (by the gauge) was rising alot above normal (On the R). |
