Hey boys,

Quick questions for you all.
I was looking at the Crow cams and wanted to get the proformance cams ( 2222543 ). All it said next to the cam in description is "Performance cam needs computer re calibration"

http://www.crowcams.com.au/templates/Ca ... -OHC.shtml

They are the cams below needing a aftermarket ECU. I sent an email to them and asked if what else I would need to have the cams installed successfully and I got a really "unspecific" reply.

"this cam will need a chip and valve springs"

What type of chip?! Does she mean new ECU? And any ideas as to what Valve Springs?

The cam is for my EF, The intake and exhaust are already done so the next step is the cam. I would really like any good info on the type of "chip" and springs i will need if any of you have a clue!

Cheers

I kno CROW sell "performance springs" they're harder, and should eliminate valve bounce etc. There's prolly a part # on the site.

However, there are other cam engineers. Crow is a big name, but so is WADE, and I got good service from them. My cam is yet to be installed, but will run with stock everything. The cam your looking at is most likely more lift and duration hence requiring other finer mods to run it.

I would've liked a better reply from Crow than the one you got tho, so kno where your comin from.

as locknut said the springs would be harder, to help prevent valve bounce at high rpms

as for the chip i have no idea what chip will fit eh E series

i would email back asking for prices on the valve springs and chip and also ask how is the chip installed

For a hotter cam you will need either something to the likes of an Eliminator switch from Capa, or a Sniper through XTC, theyre piggy back computers, to handle the cam and also a new set of valve springs, I got myself double springs from Crow cams, and not just the springs, you also need the retainers and collets, as the retainers are different...
