the most effective way to get that cam in the engine is to stand infront of the engine, if your right handed stand with your left foot slightly forward, get the cam in your right hand and raise it just above your head and throw it as hard as you can, you need to throw it hard enough to get it through the rocker cover, so it might take a few attempts ,once it breaches the cover your done... happy motoring....
sorry i could help my self.... im having a silly day..... |

FM search by all means isn't the best, but it still works. Even using google with fordmods.com as the website tag will get you a lot of hits! You can read this head gasket document...has camshaft installation in it, using a regrind. Ignore the tensioner bit, still need to fix/refine that. fordmods-technical-documents-diy-f38/head-gasket-doco-t99962.html For the tensioner, look at these threads... ford-4l-and-6-cylinder-f1/timing-chain-tensioner-t117619.html ford-4l-and-6-cylinder-f1/timing-tensioner-troubles-t95193.html ford-4l-and-6-cylinder-f1/timing-chain-tensioner-seal-t99338.html

They're a rare commodity around these neck of the woods . . . . . .

I have noticed alot of the guides have got the lifter assembly using tape to hold the hydro shims in place
I ended up moving the arms upwards so there about straight into the air then bolted the assembly in gently and moved the rocker arms down so the shims go into place ( already fitted) |

its easy to keep the rocker arms pointing straight up.......... that is until theyre resting on the lobes of the cam which pushes them over and lifters falling out everywhere
tape is king, just remember to pull each bit of tape off before you tighten the bolts too much or you cant pull the tape out |
