its been a while between messing with cam timing so can someone confirm that when the engine is at TDC the mark on the cam gear should on the right hand side looking from the front of the engine ??

We're talking piston #1 (front of block) is @ TDC right, as when cam swaps are performed?

I'd like to confirm this too.. will be doing a cam swap one of these days.

locknut, number 1 TDC should be TDC on the balancer timimg mark so long as the balancer hasnt slipped. there is a good doco in tech doc's on changing cams, all good so long as you dont move the timing.

That is a very good pic, shows that mark nicely. I found doco's on this site before, but is there any with pics for the cam swap?

Also, in that pic it mentions the tensioner.. how do we take some of the load off it to remove the cam easier?
