I have a 250 x-flow with a mild cam in it and the cam seems to have worn excessively in two years and now the motor ticks and clacks. The motor was fully recoed when the cam went in. I have heard that the x-flows have a problem whereby the cams dont get much oil to lubricate thus the excessive wear. Is there any way to overcome this oiling problem ie.tapping into oil gallery or maybe a roller cam. Any advice appreciated.

Fit a high volume oil pump,(and put a washer under the spring for the presure relief valve to achieve about 60 psi), put light grind marks (one is sufficient) on the lifters, ( and polish those marks so they are super smooth), from the waist down, use 15W50/60 engine oil (like Penrite HPR15), with Nulon E20, and use a new dizzy drive gear too. This makes the lobes last a lot longer, have done this with several engines over the years and had no probs.
