Got my CAMS L2HS licence at a motorkana the other day and am going to the track in September.
I need a bonnet catch. The rules seem pretty loose on exactly what this has to be. I know I don't have to put pins through the bonnet and I can hook onto the loop on the bonnet with a seccondary 'mechanism' of some kind. Has anyone made one of these. What did you make and was it Ok?

I have seen something, where they bolted a bracket on that come up between the guard and the bonnet, and the had something that secured the bonnet, it meant no holes, no marks, and could be removed after you finshed racing.

Yeah that's as far as I have found out so far. Unfortunately not very helpful.
I have also heard of wrapping a belt around the crossmember and through the catch but this sounds dodge and difficult to me.

Unless you bolt something to the underside of the bonnet and then run a wire from that to a bracket sticking out of the grille possibly.

they will allow a lether belt that wraps around the rad support and through the bonnet bracing and then buckles up in front of the grill, i have also seen people run a seatbelt buckle, bolt one end to the rad support or bumper and the other to the bonnet, close the bonnet and do up the buckle.
that or bite the bullet and put pins in the bonnet, they look tuff anyway, lol.

Here is what i ended up doing:
3mm aluminium plate rivited to the crossmember with some flat nylon tie-down rope sandwaged inbetween. Then I just get a shackle and attach the loop to the normal bonnet loops when I go racing. By the way is anyone else going racing at Phillip Island next weekend? I will be there on Saturday.
