Hay ford modders, what do i do?
I have an AU1645 grind by WADE camshafts, its good i like it but its a "Top end cam" without serious work done to my trans a huge cam is not possible.....I wanna take off faster than i can now, do i get a new grind (because someone said you cannot have take off and top end in reguards to cams), or do i change diffs or something? maybe something else? I want a turbo but as its now an N/A car i can still go back to my AU1645 if i decide to force induct it. What 2 do? What 2 do?

I never get a straight answer with these gears??? What is the adverage RPM@100kph

I was told at 110kmh you are on about 3000rpm
I was looking into getting mine done and was wondering aswell |

Whoever said that is a moron, speak to green machine he has 3.9 diff gears and it's his daily drive, no problem at all

Two stock EBs are at the lights one has an 3.23 the other 4.11's, no other mods both have exact reflexes on the [flash=]GREEN[/flash] 100kph, whats the gap??

it depends what kinda driving you do mostly, if you did highway mostly i wouldnt go 4.11's but if city i would.
and if you want to keep your auto or go manual. if auto you could go highstall and 3.7's with a bigger cam. |

Im just trying to work out the advantages of 4.11's over stock open wheelers! Why do you think 3.7's, and ive been told stallys even 2500rpm'ers are hellish everydayers! I have whats in my signiture but money is a concern, i dont wanna screw it and have it cost me ya no what i mean?

The actual RPM will differ slightly due to variables such as tyre profile etc. From what i have read on here from some members who have had 4.11's, it would be somewhere around/between 2300-2500rpm at 100kph. I have never had 4.11's before so i couldn't tell you from experience. I have 3.23's in my Fairmont and at 100kph it sits at around 1850-1900 rpm, in the old man's XR with 3.45's it sits at about 1950-2000 rpm. |

4.11's would definitely knock your fuel efficiency around if your doing long dist driving
I have a formula and it looks like this: (0.00037698) * (RPM * r) / (R1 * R2) = vehicle speed in kms/hour where: RPM = engine speed, in revolutions/minute r = loaded tire radius (wheel center to pavement), in cm R1 = transmission gear ratio R2 = rear axle ratio so start by changing it work out tire radius r = (Speed * R1 * R2) / (.00037698 * RPM) So say 5th gear is .63 diff is 3.27 and RPM is 2200 at 100km/hr (for estimates sake) r = (100 * .63 * 3.27) / (.00037698 * 2200) r = (206.01) / (.829356) = 248.4mm So now input to get new RPM with a 4.11 RPM = (Speed * R1 * R2) / (.00037698 * r) = (100 * .63 * 4.11) / (.00037698 * 248.4) = (258.93) / (0.093641832) = 2765 this is only rough as its not quite 100% accurate (not sure why but doesn't quite seem to be spot on with calcs on my car, however makes sense from the info on a website I based it off, may be due to tyre bulge at 100km/hr when calcing RPM off stationary tyre sizes, so please don't use for exact measurements)... So around the 2800rpm with these measurements... feel free to adapt your own ratios and speeds and current RPM's though... Cheers, Tim

with 4.11 gears the car would be around 2800-3000rpm at 110km.
it should still do over 180kmph+ top speed.. i have 3.45 in my car and its at 2450rpm at 110 kmph. |
