As the title suggests whats an ideal cam for LPG from the likes of wade camshafts? i hear with LPG systems you can run lumpier cams with better idling properties (i.e 1004@110, 1521a) then petrol counterparts? Can anyone fill me in or suggest a worthy cam upgrade from a wade 1604 for my xr6 about to be converted to LPG. Any ideas?

i'm running a 1004 110 in my auto EF..
idlies fine. performance aint the best.. but there is plenty wrong with my car Gas Research have 1 cam for the I6, so check out the specs of their Voodoo stage 1 cam for the I6, might find something similar @ wade.

why would you need LPG specific cams?
I've got wade stage 2 1604 running beautifully! |

because LPG needs more valve life or duration on the intake to allow the air AND fuel to get in.
the LPG takes up extra room so it can be overcome by using the cam profile to compensate. ofcourse normal cams can run nicely. have you seen a wade 1004 110 in an auto before? bad fuel economy, bad idle.. i've got it in my EF on LPG, runs beautifully. LPG simply has different needs.

i am slightly confused.
So putting a wade cam into a LPG Engine will give poor economy, bad idle yet EFFalcon your Ef runs beutifully?? wut do u mean, its slightly contradictory. cheers

exactly as rmyers said.
when it comes to peak performance, LPG has different requirements to petrol. but LPG will also smooth out alot of lumpy cams

Depends what else has been done to it, depends what sort of dollars your spending, what else your planing to do to it, duel fuel or dedicated lpg and what your trying to get out of it - performance or economy. |
