Ok. Driving about halfa hour ago, come on to the highway just driving say 75%.
On the highway for 5 mins. No problems. Come off the highway, no problems. Accelerate up to 60. No problems. But at the next intersection the car nearly stalled (manual) sounds s**t at idle but normal under load. Blows some black smoke. And smoke come out of the exhaust flange behind the cat. Its the stock cat with a 2.5in exhaust. The engine still has the same power. Just don't idle good and blows smoke. Hope I didn't f**k something bad |

A blown cat blows white smoke and can possibly choke the motor so it makes not power at all. Black smoke is usually from running to rich. Probably a cracked hose coming from the MAP sensor or something along those lines.

So where is the map sensor in a eb?

Map sensor located in engine bay on the passengers side firewall near a/c t/x valve.
Possible map sensor problem or vacuum hose off map sensor.

If it's not the hose for the map sensor it might be the wiring for it... My map sensor hose split not so long ago, causing a vac leak & poor running, took me a little while to find the issue too. I checked over every hose in the engine bay....
Cheers ToranaGuy

Ok so ill check the hoses today.
Yesterday I checked the voltage on my tps and it read .79v this is low right. Ment to be .98.99? Could this cause it? I tried to adjust it but couldn't get a driver in there.. |

It sounds a bit low, but i can't remember off the top of my head what it's supposed to be at idle.

Glad to hear it's running sweet again. What did the black box look like? Did it have wiring going to it as well? Cheers ToranaGuy

that black box is your MAP sensor, its pretty common for a hose to break/split, so if its fallen off without you bumping it or doing anything in the engine bay, its probably time to replace all your vacuum lines.

It didn't have a green and black hose running to it. It was just the one that split.
Thought car was fixed, just took it for a spin. No more black smoke but after I gave it a little gas it started sounding real loud and vibrating a fair bit. Anyideas? |
