To removed the liffter gear so I can replace the liftgers, do I have to lock in the timming chain with a wdge of wood to stop the chain from dropping? I am not sure if the preasure from the chain would pull up the back end of the cam when I remove the gear. also is it hard to do?It looks pretty straight forward to me.

just zip tie the chain to the top sprocket, and the chain tensioners will hold it up, and you wont loose your cam timing either

if you are only taking the rocker gear off there is no need to remove the cam gear from the cam.

Yes I need to take off the rocker gear so I can replace it with the one that was suppose to go on to start with, The one on there has lifters that are to small. The idoit mechanic said that he had to use grease to keep them in and it will be ok, but I can't stand the ticking noise. So I want to put the proper gear omn for the lifters I brought in the first place.

i really dont see how your engine would even run with the small adjusters in the early larger rocker gear. the difference is a few mm.

the adjusters falling out when trying to put the rack back on is pretty common and using grease is not a bad way of keeping them in.

the ticking noise could be from a number things like, head gasket leaking around the oil feed for the head, low oil pressure, blocked or slightly blocked oiling holes on teh rockers gear.

perhaps you should ease up the name calling until you know what going on

So if they where all brand new lifters, why would they still have problems ?

Would there maybe faults in all of them? after running for a few minutes the ticking ends.

by the sounds of this guy they may not be new...

there could also be oil suply problems to the rocker gear.

it's way to hard to say with out looking inside

if you're taking him to court, shouldn't you leave your motor alone till it's all over?
