my clutch pedal has slowly been getting harder and harder, and getting into gear over the last couple of days was getting sticky. now today i cant even get it into any gear at all.
i think it must be the clutch cable, any one have any other ideas as what it could be?
how much work is involved in changing the cable? it looks like a pain in the a***!

i assume you have an EL... did they have the same problem with earlier eseries of pulling the cable thru the firewall?

coz thats a similar thing to what mine did.. the pedal got harder... and got harder to get into gear... then one day.. couldn't get it in gear at all...

i mean where the cable goes thru the firewall.. it breaks the actual firewall.. so effectively.. you are pushing the pedal.. but the clutch doesn't move..

id check your peal box and and firewall for issues, otherwise you make be lucky and for some reason the cable may just need adjusting

yeh i had problems with my pedal box as well it gradually bent and twisted and i had no clutch so i ripped it out and reinforced it myself by welding a 5mm plate behind it and its worked a treat :D

well hopefully its only the plate needed - wont be as costly as the clutch - its the only bad thing about a manual!! otherwise they are so much better to drive then the old auto!!

Yep been there done that. Had the pedal box replaced and firewall reinforced and new cable, better get the clutch done soon or the pedal box might break again :( any recommendations for a heavy duty item but with a light feel? Ive heard RPM are ok.

my pedal box has gotten to the stage that i've got full adjustment out of the clutch at the firewall, and now i can't select gears properly again.
cruise dosen't work either.
i'll be fixing it soon, i just need time.

i got into it yesterday and yeah the fire wall was cracked! so ill have to weld a plate in there and replace the cable cos it had already been fully adjusted.

when u put ur new cable in try get it as far away from hot things as possible cause when they get hot the plastic melts and causes the heavy clutch prob that cracks the firewall n breaks the peddel box happened 2 me 2

yeah i was actually thinking of insulating it some how, cos it does get close to the extractors, and not only does it effect the plastic sleeve, but im sure that the ammount of heat down there will make the steel cable stretch under tension and stress it out...
