Here's my situation. I'm coming upto a stop sign and I'll be turning left. I brake and turn left a little, coming to a complete stop before the white line. The car's revs drop to 300-500rpm and then pickup to 700rpm.. it almost stalls, but doesn't. I don't think this problem will fix itself hehehe
I know this is a common problem, so I'm just after a solution. Any ideas? |

Check out your power steering sensor, it is suppose to compensate, whe the wheel is turned.

I know exactly what this is because my mates car did exactly the same thing.
Change the Idle Speed Control (ISC). I swapped his for mine to check and it fixed it 100%. Definately change the ISC. Located on top of the throttle body. Will cost about $130 for a new one. |

I'd clean the ISC or replace the power steering sensor

ISC definately. Cleaning it may work but its a remote chance probably only 2%. More than likely replace it.

Damn that sucks. What are the consequences of simply unplugging the ISC?

It will throw a error code and car will only start briefly then stall. Error code is not a worry but you will need to reset the idle speed to get the car running.
Wouldn't recommend it for the long haul but it's fine will you save up the dosh. cheers Scott

Step 1 - reset ECU, drive around for a day and see if it's helped.
Step 2 - Clean ISC, again drive around and see what happens. Step 3 - ECU diagnostics... Step 4 - Replace parts only if necessary hehehe I'll do this starting tomorrow and post my findings. |

Well tried the ECU reset and the relearn procedure... those of you that saw my alarm thread know it turned out to be a b**ch. Anyways, slight improvement, but when I brake hard the revs do drop below 500rpm and then bounce back upto 1000rpm once I'm stationary. They sit at 700rpm at idle.
Next step (tomorrow).. clean the ISC. |
