Hey guys,

I have an EL XR6 with 4480s, a high flow cat and 2.5" Lukey. When i peg it from a standing start and change gears at the rev limiter it seems to be dumping a fair bit of fuel out the back (i can see it in my side mirror). I really hope it is fuel for a start, my mate driving behind me said it was a greyish black colour so thought it was just excess fuel. Do high flow cats and well-flowing exhaust systems tend to dump more fuel out of the exhaust? Should i be worried?

Cheers, Kyron.

wouldnt stress too much as my car does that too with the foot flat. i would rather it dump fuel at full throttle than run lean

Now you need a spark plug in the exhaust to tip to light it up.

I haven't noticed anything in my mirrors while flooring although I suggest if you can see it from your mirrors then its dumping a little too much.

LOL @ spark plug in the exhuast! But since you mentioned it maybe my spark is a little on the weak side, causing a bit more than normal unburnt fuel :? Dunno if that's a possibility

well if its fuel, you've got a s**t load going in, or an ignition problem. i'd check the plugs and see if they are sooty or something, maybe swap them out.

go out to an empty housing development or something and give it a run and go back and see if anythings there. least you'll know what the hell it is.

oh, and you do know the cat actually creates water too? thats why so many exhausts rust out amongst other things

All factory cars run rich flat out so probably nothing to be to worried about. If you want to be sure, run a diagnostics on the ecu and see if it picks up any faults or throw it on the dyno with a WB up the pipe.
