I may be young but I am qualified and unfortunately you do see a lot off miss diagnosis resulting in un needed replacement of parts and quite often this leads you in a wrong direction.
Its easy to think of the things that can cause a problem like you have and simply miss the problem that's right infront of youre eyes. I'd be putting a new filter in her and new fluid for a start |

Hmm I think I will hold off a sound system until I get this sorted out.. I will check the trans fluid when I have time + when my car isn't heated up, so I will check it Monday morning.
If needed, how much $$$ am I looking at for a transmission service? |

The way to check the auto properly is a bit gay.
But the car has to be up to temp. The fluid has to be 56c iirc, so just drive it for 10 or so mins fairly spiritedly. With the car running in neutral on a level surface remove the 16mm bolt on the drivers side of the trans towards the rear of the auto. The hot exhaust will be in the way. Fluid should just dribble out. It shouldn't gush out. Just dribble. If it's doing that then you can get some on you're finger (remember it's hot) and have a look and smell. If it's a dark maroon to black colour and smells burnt the fluids no good. If the fluids ok itll either be a bright red or a nice clearish yellow. If no fluid cones out it's low. I wouldn't suggest stickin you're finger in there. Use a zip tie or something to get a little fluid out and inspect it then. As for cost the filter service kit is like $100 and probably 4 liters of auto fluid. Worst part is filling the auto up if you do t have a hoist and a pump for the bottle. |

When it hesitates, does it sound like it misfires or anything?
If you unplug the O2 sensor it will give you an idea if its something related to that. |

Stick the hose in the filler hole and feed the hose through the engine bay exhaust side and stick the funnel on the end of it. Let gravity do the rest. Place drip tray/cardboard/old clothing under the transmission to catch any overfill. Works every time.

Ahh thanks phongus that sounds like an easy way to do it
And no I don't think it misfires at all. |

Had a look today but couldn't find the bolt to get to the transmission fluid?

16mm on the drivers side of the box.
Good idea phongus, how's it work with the hot exhaust and the silicone hose? |

It may be too late now.. But I understand exactly what you're talking about. Mine is/was doing this.. Only when its cold in the early morning, Same as you.. Id be able to reverse out fine.. But stick it in drive and apply throttle and its like you have weights in your engine bay or something.. Theirs no go.. And then poof.. Off it goes like nothing happened.. Mine does it about 2-3 times.. leaving the drive way, Turning the first corner from my street, Then on the stretch of road that leads to the main road. By the end of that stretch its gone.
You've given me a lot to think about, I thought it was related to the gearbox i just paid a few ligaments to replace today. Or at least it better damn well be. But it's still cooling down for me to see how it goes cold so i can't really tell you... Watch this space. |

That's how mine started, well I think.. It was only a thing that happened when cold however it gradually got worse to the point were my tacho needle was bouncing and the car would not idle properly. It sounded very lumpy and just ran like crap.
I just spend a couple hundred on the motor at mechanics trying to fix the problem however it was money wasted. |
