My driveway is now COVERED in black s**t, parents cracked it...
Had pacemaker 4499 and a metal hi-flow cat installed the other day and ever since the exhaust is just spewing black s**t, seems to do it on both gas and petrol. I stood behind the car while it was idling and I could SEE about 5 drops a second spitting out the back(not dripping, projectile spitting out), heaps of crap coming out! Why is this? The gas system is only a month old and my first service is free so I booked that for next wednesday, would they fix it, is it just running too rich or something? Or will they only fix the gas side of it? It doesn't seem to have lost power, actually it's definitely gained power since the install of extractors/cat but it definitely wasn't spewing crap before they were installed... edit: car is a '93 EB2 fairmont with just under 300,000kms on it haha. however it was driven by an old company executive(60 yr old) and has full ford dealer service history up to 250,000 so has had an easy life.

Ok just sat car in driveway in neutral. Revved the engine and a s**t of clear liquid mixed with a bit of black s**t(looks like the crap thats coated on the exhaust inside) came out, when revving it actually spat about 1.5meters out the exhaust and made a little puddle, was a lot of liquid...happens on both petrol and gas however seems to be a fair bit worse on petrol. Car seems to be running fine though? WTF is wrong?

Most probably carbon. Does it look powdery?
Your muffler may have had the internals shaken a bit whenth the headers were fitted. I highly doubt it is tune related. Only other thing I think of is piston rings. |

Doubt it's water cos I left the engine running a good 10 mins revving a lot to make sure and it was still coming out. Also the muffler is only 2 weeks old, had a redback 2.5" done a couple weeks ago and extractors+cat are a few days old...

its condensation and carbon. its nothing to worry about..
when you first start your car cold it runs rich, and you also have hot exhaust gas coming through a cold exhaust pipe. this causes condensation.. it will keep doing it untill the car gets to normal running temp and exhaust gets hot most cars do it, even more on lpg. |

If you run a heap of injector cleaner and a heap of octane booster if burns your cat to pieces and it spits s**t out the exhaust like your talking about. my brother told me thats what he done with his old VK and it blew everything out of the cat

Damnit if I knew that before I wouldn't have spent money on a hi-flow lol. But yeah it's still spewing after a drive, leaves a trail everywhere.
