yeah the wires that disconnect the starter and prevent from starting... When the smartlock thingo is blinking that relay is opened preventing the starter solenoid from engaging (by hot wiring or the sort)

PART EDIT

As I see it your actually doing the hard part for them... Unless you've got your own fail safe installed? Like a button you have to hold in to start (ie a broken injector pulse or something and once started the relay holds in helping injector pulse)?

Actually I do appologise... the ED has separate smartlock module and BEM... Do the EF/EL models have both modules in one?

if so you will find it hard to replace with a high series unit (assuming your and EF driver) as the BEM's on the Ef's have a different amount of plugs/or pins for the class variants (low, mid and high series) plus you'll need the wiring and modules to go around it (Ie the dimmer for the dash works different on a EF/EL high series to a EF/EL mid series (I think, not 100% sure for EF/EL variants?))...

But I am fairly sure you would be able to straight swap with a high series...

like I said down side is I am nearlly positive you removing the smartlock immobilisation (or part of it?) by doing this...

We all know smartlock is far from perfect... So is any mass rolled out immobilisation system installed in cars really... Once you know how to beat one you can steal all cars of that sort the same way...

The best system for immobilisation really is something you devise and install that no criminal will be able to work out (something out of the normal that takes more time to diagnose)... If the simple trick they used last time don't work then they aren't likely to spend too much time on it for fear of getting caught...

no need to be like that... it definitely works... I 100% agree to that... its a simple cheap solution to the problem and guaranteed never to fail again...

I was always under the impression your undoing what smartlock does thats all? Although I'm not 100% familiar if the circuit isolates anything else on top of the starter?

it's either blue with red stripe or red with blue stripe. one goes into the BCM and the same colour come back out. same plug. just bare both wires. solder a bit of wire between the two and it'll start fine

these little tricks about joining wires etc are normally only mentioned in pm's, as dodgy people do get on sites to learn ways around security
