yeah gutting the cat is illegal, should have put an advisory notice to that. just give it a good shake, if you hear sounds like rice rolling round in there pretty good chance she is rooted, thats when you gut the thing drive to the exhaust shop and get it tubed... i mean replaced!

don't they lose their effectiveness after a year or so anyway?

my cat was blocked, damn thing was robbing me almost 20 RWKW too, put a new one on and it made a good difference, also it started to collapse just after a new exhaust was installed

so the cat is really a consumable rather than something that will last the life of the car???

why would they do this?

I had this problem with my old xr, one day went to drive, NO power, as i went to floor it..max it woudl go is 2500, and it would like coughh and make a rattling, noise like there was marbles going around in circules somehere under the car..
got to uni...reved it pretty hard, n did a nice big f@rt...(back fire through the air intake),...then it was fine ever since:S,
still put it down to blocked cat...

Might have answered your own question, any moisture will have a negative effect on the engine. Best clean it up inside and out.

I'm with this suggestion.
Especially if its cleared up now.
I'd take your dizzy cap off and check condition of rotor button though.

well today the problem came back..over here in sydney its been pouring all day and theres big f**k puddles everywhere..

I was on my way home when i felt the problem come back slightly but went away a few k's on, then just around the corner from my house there was a huge puddle on the road where water went everywhere(i slowed right down) and after i went through it, i could hardly move..it just wouldn't rev past 1500 rpm and i hardly got home?

any idea? have i got water in my air intake?

DIZZY , the dizzy is wet, posibly starting to f**k out , distributors hate water . best bet pop the cap clean and dry it with some wd40 ect. after taking it for the drive does the cat glow red ? if so most likely not blocked just excess fuel
