Hey guys, got a strange one for you..

I took my car for a little drive around the corner, and i noticed i had no fkn power..i tried to go above 2000rpm and it just refused to..kind of spattered but would not go..

I got home..lifted the bonnet and gave it a little rev and it reved it to 3000rpm and it did it no probs..so i went for another drive and got it above 2000 again once but the problem soon came back just before pulling into my driveway..

has anyone ever experienced anything like this?

I should also note i just changed the thermostat gasket after the old one blew(new one still leaks grrrrrrrr) and abit of coolant spilt around the engine bay (possible on top of the injectors and dizzy cap)

Might have answered your own question, any moisture will have a negative effect on the engine. Best clean it up inside and out.

maybe check to see there is no moisture in the ignition (electrical) side of things.

check spark plug leads and coil pack...
my *choke* camira did that to me once. found out it was a faulty coil.

most exausts are cat back, give it a good tap and keep an ear out for shakes.
or just take it out and have a look..

if the cat rattles, it just wants a big pole rammed through it to clean out the guts,

Also, a very valid point to check the leads, My ye olde EF XR6 displayed the same symptoms you are talking about, just happened that when I did top radiator hoses, took it for a run and the car missed and f@rt when driving, would not rev up, soon as it was standing still though it was happy to rev up, cause there was no load on the motor.

check your leads before your cat.

yeah gutting the cat is illegal, should have put an advisory notice to that. just give it a good shake, if you hear sounds like rice rolling round in there pretty good chance she is rooted, thats when you gut the thing drive to the exhaust shop and get it tubed... i mean replaced!

had the same problem on a EL and it was the dizzy.
wheel under rotor had a mind of its own and spinning instesd of being solidly locked in place.

so get the cap off and check, wont take long to a least discount that problem anyways before removing the cat.

sounds very similar to the problem i had in my old EB. No power and wouldn't rev. Turned out to be the cat (after alot of time wasting - and money - with other things)
