Good Morning Everyone,
I am currently grappling with an intermittent issue with my XG ute. As the title describes, on particularly cold frosty mornings the thing wont start. When i return later that day the car will start and run fine. I imagine there is some moisture getting into the ignition system somehwere, im after some advise on where to start looking and how to get this soughted out?\ Thanks Dan |

What do you mean won't start?
Does it crank over? If so does it crank at the same usual speed? |

Hi,
It could be a few things, including fuel or lack of. If you unplug a plug lead, connect it to an old plug and rest it on the manifold. You should them be able to see / hear the spark as you crank it. You could still have a bad relay or any number of things, so eliminate what it isn't. The Coils have been known to have cracks and issues in the rain, and the distributor modules are a known issue. Normally they stop before they wont restart. Is the Cranking at the right speed ? You have said it sounds right, but I have seen a stuck centrifugal advance in the Dizzy cause starting problems before. Regards 96ELGli

The car is duel fuel and doesnt run on either. Would it still turn over with a dodgy relay?
