Hey,
i was working in my boot when the negative wire touched the positive for like 3seconds before i relieved and pulled them apart. Now the car wont start. Ive looked at the fuses and they seem alright, though im no expert. Whats going on? Cheers |

Did you check the fuses under the bonnet (assuming e-series)

well now you have learned your lesson to always remove the negative from the battery before commencing any electrical work.
what xhute0 suggested...check the fuses under the bonnet...if there are any? or pull all the relays out and plug them back in. If not you would have definitely fried a fuse somewhere phong =P~

Relays look like plastic cubes...before I can say more...what model car is it? EA, EB, ED, EF, EL if at all an E-series...if not specify.

Um EF Future. Are the relays in the fuse back on the drivers side, and do they just pull straight out

Yeah relays are able to pulled straight out. Well in the EL there are different relays in different areas...first there are some near the battery on the drivers side and also behind the battery underneath the water tank thingy. There might also be some on the passenger side just in front of the air box between the headlight and airbox.

do as fordzatmyplace did and check the crt lmp fuse inside the car. the fusebox for it is located above your r/h knee when your sitting in the drivers seat.
if this fuse is missing or blown, it will crank but won't fire.

I wouldn't waste time on the relays personally, they are impossible just to check visually as they are totally inclosed. He has obviosly shorted somthing out causing a fuse to fry or a wire to burn out.
I am willing to bet $$$ that he has cooked the BEM We need more info what wire shorted?? And what does your car do when the key is in "start" position

I did the same thing on my EB. I blew the CRT LMP fuse, which disabled the radio, interior lights and stopped the car from starting.....it turned over alright. Just a new fuse did the job.

And what does your car do when the key is in "start" position Might take ya up on that bet  My guess is still the courtesy lamp fuse. Visual inspection may not show up the fact that itis blown. Just replace it outright or test it.

Hey, ive tested the CRT fuse with another fuse from the box with the same amp rating. Same thing. My stereo, lights and air con etc all work fine. It just doesn't turn over.
