How do Car Wrecker Yards work?

Do you just walk in and they have metal bits and car parts lying around... then you take it to the counter and pay for it?

some do some don't, some let you take the parts of the cars yourself.

Those "bits of metal" are cars mostly complete besides what otehr ppl have taken.

When they get the cars in they usually take off the decent items like rims nice steering wheels.

If the engines are good working order then they usually take them out before dumping the car in the yard with the others.

When you get there you may have to sigh a form which basicly says if you get killed, crushed, hurt on the property then its not there fault.

Ask them what your looking for and they can give a rough idea on wether they have it or not, or they will send someone out to get/look for it.

Or if your not 100% sure on what you want just go for a walk and have a look and either remove it yourself or go back and ask them to get it no extra charge...i think... If its an interier peice you should be able to remove it yourself if you ahve some basic tools, screw driver.. small socket set.. ect.. My local wreckers has a small supply of odd random tools on hand in a box there usually pretty damaged bent ect so no one would bother stealing them.

Once you have what you want take it to counter and get a qoute then tell them you will give them half that and you got your self a deal. The guy at my wreckers has no idea of teh falcons he drives a commo and i usually get an falcon bit cheaper thatn what i could sell it for on ebay. So dont be afraid to bargin infact be prepared to as they usually charge alot.

But then again after all this your in perth and every second wrecker has different rules or system with how they work.

Hope this helps,

Regards,

Michael.
