I had this done on the FBT when I got it.
Made a good dfiference in economy, idle, smoothness of engine in general and the exhaust smelt nice for little while LOL.

As said they basically run your car stationary while connected to a machine which bypasses the fuel tank and the car is run off a mixture of cleaning agents and some special fuel. (there is a propper name but i cant re as is it was a while ago now)

Highly recommended and cost <150 for memory.

Id do it again if my car felt rough or started to blow a few puffs of black..

Its a machine they attach to your fuel lines, bypassing your fuel tank. They then run the engine for a length of time to clean the injectors. I believe the machine has a fuel/detergent mix in it.

it's not to clean the injectors only. the main point is to clean the any build up on the ports, valves, pistons and chambers

I happen to work at a fraud dealer and 450 may sound alot but was it a carbon clean or was it a remove injector job, we have a machine that cleans injectors that are out of the car and if you work out the machine repayments seeing as it costs 7000 dollars for the machine , labour charges often 80$ an hour , removal , cleaning , installation time and workshop supplies wich inclides the cleaning fluid wich is about 85 dollars a litre i think your doing pretty good really altho i admit it is alot of money and i would never pay for it as i can just do it myself and save a bundle but we are not all able to do that.

yes it's usually quite heavy, but i've been p***y-footing it around, and im getting 14.5L/100km according to the trippy.
still got just under half a tank left, looks like it may get 350-380km before the fuel light pops on.

Exactly that, my dear Tickford!

Just happened to wander into a place called Regional Motorsport in Balcatta today ...you should see what they were working on out the back!

Just a cobalt blue EL XR6 with a completely re-built AU Tickford 6 motor with the works, Custom Turbo-grind cam, Vortech with Nismo 20 psi turbo manifold, custom Pod intake, Swirl tank with duty & standby fuel pumps in the boot, stainless steel everywhere, 9" 3.7 diff, Crane ignition system, Wolf piggyback ECU ...you name it, it had it ...a real monster ...aiming for 297rwkW!

The owner works on the mines, and this baby has been sat in the workshop for the past 18 months getting completely kitted out. $50K spent so far!

When this thing finally hits the road, it will scare the s**t out of everyone here in WA, ...a dream machine!

They also had a Mega-blown bright yellow Mustang sat there too.

Anyway, I digress, but he also does full carbon cleaning ($160.00 + GST), and he recommended that I actually replace my injectors too, and use a Dayco thermostat instead, because the Tridon ones are generally troublesome.

I was really impressed by these guys (the 'blown' XR6 out the back confirmed that), and I am definitely going to get them to give me a carbon clean & replace my injectors ...and kit out my beast a little!

If any of you WA guys are interested (even if it's just to take a peek at the XR6), they are at 15 Halley Rd, Balcatta, 9440 4422 - speak to Mark Edmondson

No point, just a little excited that I'd found a workshop that I could potentially rely on to sort out my starting issue (in another thread), and offer the Carbon Clean (subject of this thread) ...whilst obviously knowing Fords inside-out (rarity here in Perth) for future performance work!

Geez, sorry mate!

Got my EF injectors cleaned by guy local to me.

Charged $20 ea (mates rates) $33 ea to you sir...

Worth every penny - flow tested before & after etc etc...

Guy told me that he would charge $160 on top of that to remove and refit. (Did it myself)

Local Burson's quoted $240 for reco injectors (changeover).

Might have to give this carbon thingy a go next time?

Shane.

Has anyone tried Remec Auto in Midland, seems Geoff is pretty good with Fords too?
