I believe the machine has a fuel/detergent mix in it. it's not to clean the injectors only. the main point is to clean the any build up on the ports, valves, pistons and chambers Ah yes I realise its meant to clean up the rest as well, however in my experience it didn't do such a good job, as I ended up removing the injectors to have the cleaned properly all up it cost $260. Maybe the shop didn't run the carbon clean long enough. However once bitten twice shy as they say. So I will never use it again.

Well, I'm definitely getting the Carbon Clean to just give my whole system a good clean-up.
The guy did say that if injectors are actually WORN, then ANY sort of cleaning won't do anything for them ...and they should be replaced. What he suggested is that he actually replaces mine with the relatively new ones (40,000K's) that have just been changed OUT of the XR6 (guy's going for BIGGEST injectors possible), just to see if they make a difference, ...then I have the option to buy those injectors or buy a new set. Either way, I think Carbon Clean is definitely worth a shot!

As the guy told me at Regional Motorsport ...the Carbon Clean is a TOOL, not a complete remedy!

I have had a Carbon clean done in the past, and I was actually impressed at the difference that it actaully made. I mean it was smother more economical and the engine just ran sweeter.
I would do it again and invest some $$$ for a off car injector clean or even buy some new ones.. |

Thats exactly the point. I was told it was to clean the injectors plus the valves & ports etc. So when something doesn't do what I was told it would do, what would you expect me to do, recommend it?

I've seen first hand that do what there are designed to do and they do it very well. I've done one on a car and 3 weeks later takent he head of it, seen it first hand. very much worth the $140 to $160 that they cost |

Anyway guys, no point in getting into a dispute over this ...we're all Ford owners here!
Everyone's entitled to an opinion...

Is there a fuel additive that'll do almost the same thing?
Think of the moneyyyy, lol.

Think of the moneyyyy, lol. Yes there are fuel additives that 'supposedly' clean the injectors and fuel system, but they are not guaranteed to work ...and will certainly NOT work on worn injectors! The carbon clean method is PROVEN to remove carbon deposits from valves, pistons, ports etc, ...and I think $160.00 is money well spent to regain economy, power, and efficiency of the engine!

blackjack_original wrote: so basically, the way i see it, carefully inject some water with a syringe or something down your intake, and you'll have saved your self ~$150. If you'r injectors are dirty so much that they don't spray properly, in my experience cleaning them with solutions will definitley not be worth the time. So take the $150 dollars you've saved on a carbon clean and have your injectors cleaned professionaly.
Yeah, if clean injectors are all you're wanting to achieve! The Carbon Clean thoroughly cleans everything else though, less likelihood of the injectors refouling if the rest of the fuel system, valves, ports, pistons etc are clean!
