Hey Gaz,

I installed the 77 deg C High-flow thermostat tonight, and then took her for a hoon down Tonkin & Roe Hwy to Canning Vale.

Well, what can I say so far ...what a difference!

She's definitely running smoother & sweeter now ...and the temp now doesn't budge from the line below the 'L' on the gauge, AC on or not!

Admittedly, I can't say for sure whether the Carbon Clean or the new thermostat has had the most impact ...but the combo of the 2 seems to have worked really well!

It's 34 deg tomorrow, so I'll take her out for a decent city run, to see if the thermostat performs as well on a hot day with the AC on.

If she passes the hot day test tomorrow, I think she'll be ready for her Stage 2 cam!

So far mate ...it's all good!

Im pretty sure it hasnt been mentioned but theres another way to do a carbon clean for a lot cheaper than the figures i'm seeing fly around.

It involves a can (or two) of carby cleaner, with the tube like attachment.

While the engine is running and warm.
Squirt carby cleaner in very short bursts, straight into the PCV hose that leads into the intake, until the whole can has gone byebye (takes a while).
(Your engine revs will fluctuate as you do this)

Too much squirting can stall the engine so be careful, as if it stalls and you try start the engine filled with carby cleaner, it can potentially seize. So if it stalls ya gotta pull yer spark plugs out and really let it all evaporate.

I turned my idle screw up a couple hundred rpm to be safe.

After you have finished, immediatly change your oil (dont leave it a day).
You should notice its extra black and extra crappy.

Note this does not clean your injectors and fuel rail but I run gas so heh.
