Hey guys,

Are Carbon Cleans any good?

Speaking to a Carbon Clean guy today, and he said a good Carbon Clean will clean out all carbon deposits from my entire fuel system (including injectors & valves), and will make a noticeable difference in engine efficiency, power, and running temp.

Is he talking out of his rectum ...whaddya reckon?

Ahhhhhhh ...interesting!

Considering this because I have an ongoing rough starting issue on hot days (night or cool days fine) SEE MY OTHER THREAD IN THIS FORUM, and the guy said that a Carbon Clean could fix 90% of the problem, due to it possibly lowering the operating temp as a result of getting rid of all the carbon deposits.

He said that, and also replacing my thermostat with a lower temp (70 deg C) unit too.

...your thoughts?

the thermostat your talking bout in the other thread is a 77 degree one i belive, im running one and it runs fine :)

i believe its a 2 stage thermostat, guessing it means it starts to open at 77, but doesnt fully open till about 85 or so maybe

I got quoted about $195.00 here in Perth, ...not bad considering I had been quoted $450.00 by FRAUD just to clean the injectors!

A good Carbon Clean does the injectors, as well as your entire fuel system, along with valves, pistons, ports etc.

Carbon Clean is OK BUT you can't see injector paterns or wether the injectors are dribbling not a bad start but you carn't beat taking the injectors out and getting them tested properly.

I agree with you there Bob, I had a carbon clean done once on my EA made a slight improvement, cost was $140. Since then I take my injectors out and have them cleaned offline where the spray pattern can be seen and retified.
Also all new seals and pintle caps for the total of $120.

What the hell is carbon clean? Is this something you put in the fuel tank, and it clans out yr injectors, and yr engine?

Its a machine they attach to your fuel lines, bypassing your fuel tank. They then run the engine for a length of time to clean the injectors. I believe the machine has a fuel/detergent mix in it.

Fraud did one on my EL for $180, but that was along with a major service as well, maybe they had a special or knocked it down for the other stuff I got done or something.
