i dont know who told you that,, but drag cars use ratios like 4.11 and shorter?? using a tall ratio like a 2.92 will slow your launch and 60' times, where as 3.45's will speed it up..
3.45 would be a good investment if you can find one for the right price

or if its and auto.. time for 5th gear

you would only be using 3 gears on the strip??

with a 3.45 you'll need 4th gear.
so there is a trade off both ways with the diff gears.

more power means you'll have to take the head off and have ported

2800... Wolf and a BBM :D
Or, if you are weak, Smartlock conversion/bypass, EL ECU and BBM.
2.92's work in the EA cause the EAs T5 has different ratios.
First gear is f**k short as.
3.45's might make it too short, maybe think about 3.27s?

2.92 is a great ratio.
good for drag racing and good for economy. i would keep it. since its a single spin diff maybe put a lokka in it for a better 60' time.
http://www.4wdsystems.com.au/html/lokka.htm

my freidns near stock EA ran a 14.7 with a 2.92 diff and went .3 slower with a 3.27.. so go figure.

You could also benefit with a tight 3.9LSD. alot of the e-series guys are pulling great numbers with these diffs.

Steady ED is right on the money. I would go an aftermarket computer and get it tuned up. Also chuck on a bbm manifold. Will defiantely see ur times stumble into a 14.5 or 14.4..

Hmmm. I would think that you would be VERY close to 14.8 with that combo as it is???

What sort of cam do you have?

Rent a C-130, go to 30 000ft, and drive out the back, should get to 300km/h or so, lol. Save it and buy something better i say.

I just read his post properly. Oops. My bad

Well, with $2,500 to spend, how about a low boost turbo set-up?

OR buy another car, because, by the sounds of it, she aint gunna go too much quicker....

Ditch the 2.92s, LSD 3.27 or 3.45.

What sorta cam you runnin now? Upgrade cam
Change that f**k ugly brown dash!!!
Chipped an tuned mate.
Start thinkin bout puttin a bit more cash aside and look at a supercharger or turbo then you be scarin the v8's at the traffic lights(drags even)

i seriously dont understand why no one messes with the compression....11.5:1 compression and a water injection system will set you back MAX $1500 which will give you torque like a 351 Clevo

by the way.....doorslammers run diff ratios around the 5.33 ratio.......no where near the 2.92.....tell that mechanic he's got s**t for brains.

Definately do the diff change man. I went from 3.08 to 3.7's and dropped half a second off my quarter mile time with no other mods what so ever. This was in a commie though - but same rules apply in falcoons.

After you have done that get a decent cam

By then you wont have much change out of the $2500.

bah.. just read the cam bit in the original post - I thought you were asking which was a good mod.

Maybe look at a high stall too instead.
