Iv been pulled over for mine before. I gave it a bit at the lights and they pulled me over they tested it by telling me to keep my revs @2000 and leave it there while they tested it. It wasn't over the limit which was good. I have 2.5inch with straight through muffler and a hotdog on the end.

isnt it 3000rpm and more
used to be 3000rpm then you have to stab it and thats how thay find out

oh well

i watched 2 of my mates get done for excessive exhaust noise in the famous library carpark down at spring nats last year. one car was a eb 6cyl with genie extractors factory cat and 2.5" cat back with single straight through muffler and the other was a vq statesman 5ltr with a twin 2.5" cat back

the mate in the eb coped a $500 fine and the guy in the stato coped a $1000 fine because that car is registered to a business.

but having said all of this ive got a full exhaust on my ed 6 and have only ever had one cop tell me that he thinks its too loud whilst he was sitting in his cop car at a set of traffic lights. also ive got a twin 2.5" on the xr8 and havnt raised any eye brows (but that exh. seems pretty tame to me)

yup.... put stock exhuast on pay $60 for test, put single muffler exhuast on, been right for almost two years now.

those sound laws are a JOKE, why does my car have to be 90db when a harley that uses THE SAME ROADS be 100+

it's just as illegal for a harley to do it. Ever heard a stock harley exhaust??
a while back the cops up here handed noise tickets to hundreds of bikes

exactly what I said. A stock harley exhaust sounds pathetic. You hear one and laugh. Like a bmw bike.

i was up the coast at christmas, got pulled over up there. old mate told me, that every mod i had was illegal, had to have engineering certificates for everything, but get pulled over down at newcastle, and you get nothing, mine would have to be illegal. i think some police are more kinder than others.

No.... but just like a loud exhaust you can get done for noise pollution.

i was told that they get you to rev it to half of what the rev limiter is and have you keep it there for a minute or whatever.i just got mine done and its alot louder than i expexted.i got cat back with 1 muffler before the rear wheels and a resinator at the back and its pretty loud.you wouldnt even know you had an exhaust at 80 or 100 k's too

Ok, while i was out country in my car, i decided to go to a mates place and yeh.. he had a piece of pipe... i had a car.. he had teh tools and all dat.. i still had my car... we made a pipe and welded it to the car.. was driving back into the closest town with a cop in it, and got picked up just b4 i got to the petrol station....... i new the cop but it was kinda easy... but the exhaust was by far exceeding 100+ dB.. but i don't think its by ur exhaust or anything.. its by reputation u got around.. like.. i used 2 get pulled over every day at least once, but they could never get me for much... and i got out of speeding fines a few times... because the road wasn't clearly marked with signs... but if u keep yourself together.. and keep all the hooning to a track.. they shouldn't really pick you up for anything... and it helps not kicking it going past a cop...
and.. aren't most harleys and all that quite quiet and all that.. but they go and get them louder... like we do.. they have their loudness... but not THAT loud!.. its unfair!
