hey,
I just got my self a nice lil catch can, cheep What is the best way to connect it up? a "T" piece between the breather at the back of the rocker cover and the breather in the middle of the rocker cover(PCV)... OR leave the breather at the back or the rocker cover ( it isnt joined to anything atm, just have a lil mini pod filter thang) and just run the can to the PCV and the other end to the intake mani...? and also, shold i connect the other end(out) the the intake mani, or just put that lil filter thing on it? thanks.

its illegal to have the crankcase vented to the atmosphere on cars built after the early 70's.....have it venting back into the inlet manifold if you wanna keep the emissions guys happy

so should i plumb the vac line (from the back of the rocker cover) and the PCV into the tank, then back into the intake mani?
I had a search on other car forums and it seem the way to do it/....i think

Yes thats the way it is normally run, line goes from the PCV valve to the catch can and then to the inlet manifold. Also make sure the catch can has internal baffles, a lot of the cheap ones are just pretty looking aluminium cans which have no real function. |

i think ive figured it out...
plumb the vac line (from the back of the cover and the pcv) together, then to the catch can. Coming out of the catch can ill just put on a lil pod filter thing to stop or reduce the mess. Then just plug up the intake mani where the vac lines were from. Does this sound ok? My idear is to keep the s**t gasses outta the intake. But do these vac lines reallly need vaccume? Coz EPA can lick my bum, the can is the last of my worries

Hmmm... the purpose of the can is to seperate oil from the s**t being sucked through the PCV system.
The can should be inline with the system. i.e. PCV valve------catch can-------- manifold. The gasses wont hurt your engine... the oil is what clogs s**t up... which is where the can comes into it... If you dont have the system rigged up to the manifold... it will just be a vent... i doubt the can would even do anything...

Oh... if you're running boost the other line needs to vent to the inlet plumbing for the huffer....

oil vapour reduces the octane level of the fuel mixture and will cause detonation

this cam in the package too
its just a bit of hose, but with what liioks like adaptors for a smaller hose... but only one end has a hole in it, kinda weird...WTF?!?!? ive seen these in most of the catch can kits, but what do they do? PS: cheers waggin, should be interesting to try out.

Its a one way valve...It's the oil that causes detonation..If there is that much blo by to stuff up tune or engine runing? It needs a freshen up...New rings etc...
Under boost the PCV doesn't work.BUT you still need some crancase ventilation so Vent from valve cover via oil seperator then to inlet of turbo / blower...The PCV can be hooked up as well through seperator...Unless there IS a one way valve as in PCV, there shouldn't be any crankcase vents connected to inlet or any part that can take boost...
