Hi there all. I'm new to this group and also to injected motors. Have recently purchased EA wagon with CFI and wish to change to MP. Have obtained complete MP inlet manifold with fuel rail and injectors etc. Was told by seller that was all I needed but I realise that I need at least the correct fuel pump. Do I need a different ECU though? Any help and suggestions most welcome by this old fella! Thanks in advance, Chris

Thanks ReGiE, I think the manifold is fully "equipped". I have tried to identify all the bits as listed on www.ford-tech.com but as I said above EFI is a whole new ball game to me. Holly's and Weber's etc are my idea of fuel systems but slowly getting the idea and names of components in the EFI system. Has wiring etc attached and seems complete from air intake hose to injectors. I have been told by 2 people incl yourself that I need a different ECU and 2 say I don't.... I am sure that anyone on here will know more than some of the others that have given me well meant advice. Cheers, Chris

You'll definately need a MPFI ECU Chris. Seeing as you have an EA, you don't have smartlock either I'm assuming. Take that into account, unless you wish to do a smartlock bypass/conversion, which will add to the cost. A pre-smartlock MPFI ECU is the one to look out for! Hope that helps mate, Jared

Any auto ECU from an MPFI EA, EB or early series II EB should do the job.

I've got a lot of the parts that you would need, and have done the conversion many times .
one thing to look out for, there is two types of MPI mainfolds, one has a pink wire at the end, the other does, make sure you have the one that DOES NOT have the pink wire . Also, in these conversions, i've kept the CPI dizzy sometimes, and its no different . thats in my experince though . |

Oh, and you will need a MPI map sensor .

I advertised on the fordforums a while ago I have a complete setup to give away to good home, everything except the fuel pump is yours for nothing, as the fuel pump is brand new.
I'm on the northside of brisbane. PM me if you like. |
