chain guide bolt removal.. cant remove head, bloody bolt that holds the guide in is rounded.
any tips to getting this flamin pain in the a*** out? need to get running asap! |

Rounded bolts are a complete pain in the a*** aren't they
 You could try filing the edges of the bolt head down to a smaller size so you can jam a smaller sized socket on it - we resorted to that when my uncle rounded a headbolt  . Make sure you use a decent socket too (preferably a 6-point impact), will help prevent slipping and rounding off the head.

Im assuming it's the top bolt. ive seen a couple that have been rounded. The easiest way is to weld another nut on top of it.

lol, this bolt always does this. Get a 3/8 double hex socket, bash it on with a hammer and.....im sure you can work the rest out.

sweet thanks, i got a nut welded onto it, and then welded the spanner on to it also! this was that tight it bent the spanner undoing it!

yes stupid bolt, i had one turned up with a nice bigger tighter sized hex after i had the same dramas getting the original one out.
if it moves and it shouldn't, weld it up lol

There is one way to stop this issue before it gets the point of rounded bolt heads.
Use better quality tools. A few dollars spent on a decent single hex socket will mean it never happens. |

Luckily for the lifetime warranty..otherwise there would be a lifetime debt! I cant imagine going to the extremes of welding a nut on top of it to get it off?? |

How tight did Ford put the f**k on? It takes a lot of force to bend a spanner...

I thought it was just normal gasket maker or loctite? I never had any issues with that bolt at all using a multi-hex socket...
