G'day she's a eb II with a stage one cam, HUGE k&N pod, cold air induction, genie extractors, 2.5" straight through with one mufferler (no cat) 3.7:1 diff, T5, AND A BLOODY idle thats all over the place, if you rev her in neutral she misses, slight miss while cruiseing, deaccelerates like a pig i.e. Shudders, but when you floor her it goes like the clappers with no miss or hesitation at all?
I have changed every sensor: oxy, act, map, coolant temp, thottle pos, new dissy & new coil which i soon ditched for a msd 6al with a blaster 2 (made bugger all differance) new leads and plugs, new fuel pump & filter + fuel regulator, no vacume leaks, reco injectors which still don't fire right so i rewired them (still no change) the idle speed control works fine and is clean, i have gone through three ecu's thinking that might be it... nope, put wd40 on all my plugs (EVERY ONE) and cleaned them... nuh! its got me stuffed?
btw when i check the falt codes the only ones that come up are for the auto trans (doesn't have one anymore :D ).
When i put the timing light on her the ignition timing is jumping around a fair bit about maybe 6deg ive tried all differant settings but no change to the problem and the spark is sometimes intermittant.
CAN SOME ONE HELP ME PLEASE! i love this car but she has cost me thousands over the last 7 or so years!!! and im at wits end.
thank you.

first thing that should be on your list: get a catalytic convertor.

It's got intermittent spark under no load, yet it doesnt miss under load?
You say it comes up with fault codes for the auto trans, what gear have you got the ECU tricked to be in?
When you did the dizzy did you get new TFI?

Ignition timing will jump around if the car isn't in diagnostic mode, its impossible to set base timing properly if it isn't.

yeah but compaired to a standard car the timming jumps around alot, when the idle drops the spark stops the timing advances the idle comes back up, and it just repeats the cyle over and over. the dissy was a complete new unit tfi and all. and thats the confuseing bit... no miss underload, big miss no/little load?

btw didnt trick the ecu into anything, just wired up the speedo, reverse and inhibitor. but it was doing it when it was an auto anyway.

When I had a similar problem in the EF, erratic timing, poor idle with a miss under no/low load, I pulled everything relating to ignition, just as you. Turns out I had a bad intake gasket with a crack near the bolt on #6. You could spray wd40 around and you wouldn't detect it, but it was there. Fixed that and it idles smooth as silk.

cheers
Scott

have you checked all the earth wires in the ignition system?

and does RPM at idle stay static? or is it all over the shop

could also relate to an iduction fault , you say ya got a massive k &n filter , try a standard air box and filter on it and see if that help as i notice irratic sorta idle with my medium pod setup just not bad enuff for it to miss

yeah check and clean your idle motor if that doesn't work there's a good chance you've got a leak in the intake side somewhere, (i had this prob when some d*ckhead put a too longer screw on my intake mount through the manifold)
