How hard is it to change a fan belt in an EF/EL ?
I've had a quick flick through the section in the gregory's manual and it doesnt look too hard. Remove the cover that sits over the fan belt and pulleys, slacken off the tensioner.. take belt off and replace. Are there any gotcha's I need to know about and should I need belt gripper? I'll be replacing the belt with a bosch 6PK2370.

its dead easy.
hardest part is moving the tensioner, but as long as u've got a correct size breaker bar/ratchet then its very easy.

lol I broke part of the hole in the tensioner where you put thepower bar.
Now I always just heave the old f**k off, and jam the tensioner with something for putting the new one on. |

quite easy untill it snaps and u have to pull peices of frayed fanbelt out from everywhere.. quite easy untill u get s**t, then leave your stereo going and battery goes flat..

omggg ppl why the hell do you all do it that way!!!! man its so simple...
just wrap the belt around every pully except the top left hand corner one, then just lift it up and plop it over. SIMPLE! cos of this you are using the mechanical advantage to your advantage and you dont need any tools other than maybe some scissors to cut the old belt off....i learnt this off a friend and ill do it that way forever...so simple saves fkin round with that stupid tensioner and the idea of getting something into it |

GRRRRRRRRRRR@ Tensioners. Just bought a brand new one and the bugger almost stripped on me first go (i.e the 3/8th receptacle)..... hopefully dont have to change it anytime soon. V8 ones are a prick.
But yeah - simple in theory. Dont use cheap breaker bars, should be fine.

But yeah - simple in theory. Dont use cheap breaker bars, should be fine. the v8 ones are huge. i was looking ay Yobbos EB on saturday at the dyno day and all i can say is thats a fuling huge belt. if u cut and streched it out it will prolly be about 2 metres long

yep pulling it with your own strength, its not that hard once you get a hold of it, very simple use of mechanical advantage.
