I have the same problem but mostly occurs when the car starts from cold. It would flactuate up and down and stay up in the red line for a while and then suddenly just drop back to normal once the car is in normal operating temperatures.

Check the wiring first and see if that does anything. If not then you might as well replace the sender.

phong =P~

I would of thought it'd be more likely that the signal wire fails.

nope

dont forget the engine is insualated from the chassis via runner engine mounts etc and when u think about it not easy for electical signal to go from engine back to battery

so adding extra eart straps helps this, and as a side benifit also slows down
corrosion of the alloy head :)

Hey guys

Sorry to dig up an old post, but thought it would be better than starting another one.

I have been to a couple auto part places today and I'm still confused as to which switch to purchase. Auto1 said theres costed like $60, then I went to Repco and they had 2 or 3 listed at like 15 dollars each. My EL engine that I'm going to install seems to be leaking from this part of the engine but im unaware of which switch to purchase

Thanks
Daniel

Simple... if your car has a high series cluster with a oil gauge you need the more expensive oil pressure sender unit. If your car has a low series cluster without oil gauge then you need the cheap oil pressure switch.

cheeers.

I suppose for those of us with bigger hands (mine are 2XL, if you can believe that), the manifold may have to come out.
