After Christmas I want to look at changing the cam in the wagon, from what people say I'd go a Wade Stage 2. But, say if later on I wanted to get one of those basic bottom of the line supercharger or turbo kits, would they prefer the stock cam or the wade cam. I'm talking about a real basic forced induction set up, probably a turbo one as I'd love to be driving the wagon while it's going psssssh.

From what I know there are cams for turbo's... but if you are only getting it "later" as in maybe getting it, then go with the Wade stage 2, and that should be better with a turbo than stock. Either way a wade stage 2 is an improvement.


By the way, just wagon owner to wagon owner.. off topic... what wagon have you got? (I didn't know you had a wagon), and what mods to it so far?

well when u have forced induction u dont really need a heavy cam because the air is getting forced in. and u want less valve overlap to

true, but the wade stage 2 isn't really a heavy cam, Im sure the car would run better with a wade stage 2 under turbo than the stock cam. Especially if you wanted to do head work later on...

basically the wade stg 2 cam is equal to the xr6 cam simply put
so a mild turbo/supercharger setup will be fine with this cam

im assuming your talking wade stg2 as in the 1004. If so, this should be ok with turbo setup as it still has a mild overlap of 206deg@50(cam).

The 1004 is much bigger than the XR cam, intake duration opens 7deg earlier and shuts 8deg later, exhaust opens 7deg earlier and closes 2deg earlier.

You really would want a different cam for forced induction.

The wade 1004 should work OK but the XR6 cam may be better with forced induction. You need to talk to wade and see what they say. Call them they are good to talk to.

Better to save the money and time to do the forced induction properly in one go.

lol, what he said.. I was just about to write that...

So for best performance, decide now either to go NA or Forced Induction, and if you are getting forced induction, then change the cam when you get it. This way there won't be any dissapoinments.. and it would be a prick in a*** knowing that you couldve bought a turbo cam, but didn't..

Basically when I'm talking of going turbo, I'm talking a basic as system, really just for the extra power, the blow off valve noise and to be able to say "she's turbo".
I'll give Wade a ring a bit closer to the time when I can afford to do the cam. The reason why I want to do a cam upgrade now is to give the car a bit more go in the mean time, by meantime, I wouldn't be able to afford the turbo kit for a good 6 months.
I'm also get a 3.45 LSD too. I mean maybe I'll decide that with the 3.45 and upgraded cam the car is quick enough for my liking (doubt it), or maybe I'll see another Ford and fall in love and upgrade to newer model or something, I dunno...
