Lol, that's what the clip is for! so it don't get lost in the gearbox! anyway I've done it now, I just gotta test it out on the street so yeah.

hahahahah

it WILL NOT be in the oil
it will be in the rear extension housing which is separate from the box internals!

mate it is the 1st i have heard of this problem

the ecu is not specific to the diff

for it to change gear it takes signals from the engine and the gearbox aka the transducer

im guessing you put the wrong gear in your car

many a member on here have changed their diffs and the spedo driven gear to match it and have no problems

Green Car I seem to have no problems with it, I will be doing some more city driving to see the 60km/h bit so yeah.

Sweet then, next time you floor it when you go onto the freeway see if it changes gear before the limiter. The speed will be correct but your shift points will be out, as you have been told.
Good luck with that.

Lol, after reading that my shift points are out slightly, the old gear had 20 teeth, my new 1 has 21 teeth.

this is a tricky one?
today i changed the diff in my ed from 3.08 to 3.27.
i also changed the speedo gear from 20 teeth to 21 teeth.
the speed is correct for the ratio.
and it did not change the shift points at all?? the car was shifting at 4700 full throttle with the 3.08 and with the 3.27 it still shifts at 4700 rpm.
maybe there is not enough difference between the 2 ratios to make any difference??

I will try this tomorrow. I have a 3:27 ratio, what revs should the car be doing going from 1st - 2nd in an Auto Troyman? is it what you say and it's 4700? If that's the case then I'll see if it's made a difference. If not then maybe it's hitting the rev limiter before the desired speed?

im not sure what rpm its supposed to shift at in power but i would prefer it if it shifted at redline/5000 rpm..considering the rev limiter is about 5400 in a ed.
but its ok as this engine is still stock and its probably shifting at the right rpm for a stocko..
