Can anyone tell me where i can find the charcoal canister on a el xr6, is it under the left hand guard if so would i have to take the guard off to get to it?
if a vacum wasn't hooked up to the charcole canister right would that make the car loose power? i also noticed that the fuel regulator has a vacume hose hooked up to it does this control the fuel presure? |

Yeah it sits behind the passenger side front indicator, just remove the inner gaurd to access. Removing passenger side front wheel makes life a bit easier.
Im pretty sure the vac line to the charcoal cannister is solenoid operated - but either way, shouldnt have any loose vac lines at all. Yeah - the vac line to the regulator reduces fuel pressure at idle.

its under the guard, just remove the plastic inner guard material.
If vaccumm wasnt hooked up, no big deal (illegal as it part of emmisions but no big deal)

Yeah the vac line to the regulator reduces fuel pressure at idle. Have the vacuum part of the regulator been know to stuff up before? If the vacuum side isn’t operating properly could this cause lose of power and flat spots in the engine performance? |

Hmmm... it would be more likely to harm the idle and cruise characteristics.
Try disconnecting the vac line (block the end of the hose) and drive it. See if any worse than when connected.
