Hey all.
I've looked at the document on testing ABS but the fuse box does not seem to have the connector that is shown here: http://www.fordmods.com/Images/ABS-Codes.jpg The ABS light came on while i was doing my head gasket about 8 months ago.. Havent bothered to fix it, now rego is coming up.. I have a 94' Falcon ED ABS. My guess is i've watered something while changing the coolant. Maybe the relays are stuffed? I dont know what to look for as the service manual doesnt say anything about ABS. Thanks for any help. |

diagnostic plug on ED's is below the fuse box, not in it

well i fellowed the doco when my abs light came up on the el monty. it spat on the codse that the drivers side rear wheel pick up sensor wasn't working.
took the back wheel off and it was caked up with mud. dirt. Gave it a spray with electronic spray cleaner and all good. so maybe you should check all the sensors on the wheels if you can't read the codes. They only thing i don't know is do the ED ABS units have sensors on all 4 wheels?????????????? I know the EL fords got alot better bosch unit as compared with previous e-series falcons.

I can't seem to get it into diagnostic mode.
I've joined the two pins and nothing happens. Also, where are the ABS relays located? |

I am not sure how to operate the diagnostic mode
ABS module (the abs brains) is located beside the steering column (up underneath steering wheel) ABS hydraulic pump (left hand front wheel arch) 4 sensors (1 on each wheel) Theses are the things that will set the CHECK ABS light off It will most likely the sensors with dust clogging them up Pulling burnouts while have your foot on the brake may also cause your sensors to clog up (not suggesting you do burnouts) I hope this helps Adam

Rego runs out on the 22nd december. abs is not a roadworthy item anyway as long as the brakes are working correctly and pass a brake test then you will be fine with getting reg

In Victoria if your car came with ABS it must be working and funtioning properly.
My brother got a RW done on his car a few months ago, and had to get the ABS fixed to pass the RWC. If there is a warning light on the dash, it obviously means something it up, and no one in their right mind will sign off a RWC if there are warning lights on the dash! But, if you take the ABS globe out from behind the dash, no one would know! I passed my RW doing this

Oh yeah I forgot there are 2 ABS relays located under the radiator overflow tank.
Cant remember which is which, a workshop manual will be able to tell you, if you don't have one send me a PM and i'll be able to tell you Cheers Adam

most places r smart... when u turn key once they should all light up on the dash... if it doesnt show up... they'll note it down as to be fixed..
