My stock AU Forte has recently been "chugging" while the car is idle at for example a traffic light.
I'm not sure if it's the cold weather in perth or something else. It happens randomly, usually when the temperature has not yet reached normal operating temperature. i.e. towards the cold side. Sitting in the driver's seat it feels like small jerks pushing you forward. Is this "chugging" completely normal? The car is 10 years old now. It is also duel fuel LPG/petrol

Oh could it be a fuel filter issue?
That might be it. How does the fuel filter cause the "chugging"?

intake gasket hasnt gone? think the one in my has gone. $50 for gaskets, $50 for piss, a lot of swearing and good times for me in the not too distant future

car will still run. The intake runners mate to the cylinder head, that gasket. Its a PITA job getting the lower bolts out.
You can test by getting a length of hose and running it along, you might hear a sucking noise in it. the other is an unlit butane touch. run it along the gasket, the vacuum in the manifold will suck the butane (or other hydrocarbons, wd40, rp7 etc) and the engine will run bad (worse)

I've been monitoring this "chugging" problem very closely as I drive recently, and noticed the following:
When I drove the car slowly today at about 10-60kms per hour the chugging happens... this is on LPG However once I step on the accelerator to about 80-100kms per hour for say 5 minutes, the chugging dissapears.....! Once I slow back down to 10-60kms for about 2 mins, the chugging comes back again.... Does this help figure out what it could be? Fuel filter or Head Gasket, or something else?

Plugs maybe? a mate's colt used to do a similar thing before we changed the plugs...

I did a run on the car today.
It's a duel fuel car.. On LPG the "chugging" is very evident. On Petrol, the "chugging" is still there but less so. I've got genuine spark plugs (recommended by Ford) in it.

Hi all,
I've been monitoring this problem for about 2 weeks now I've changed the spark plugs and the fuel filter. It's still chugging! But.... I discovered something new. While the car engine was running but the car is idle, I walked to the back of the car and noticed the exhaust making some weird noise. Like others have said mate, its probably the intake gasket.
Dads EF on gas had this problem and we change the gasket, twas much better after! Also, have you had any backfires through the airbox on LPG?
