I tried all the above tricks on mine and only got about 50% of the junk out. I then proceeded down the spray painting road as I had some left over from doing my rocker cover :)

I always assumed they were just a hollow bottle but they're actually full of little chambers and crap

I ended up having to replace mine about 8 months ago because it started to bulge like a "Pregnant lady" The Ford dealer advised me to get a new one cause it was no telling when it would blow up. So I happily handed over $76. Then after about 30 minutes I installed a brand spanking, clean, new Coolant reservoir installed. Problem is it made the rest of the Engine bay look not so good

I cleaned mine with caustic soda. Had to give it a couple a applications but it came up to a standard that Im happy with. Mine was a shocker when I got it, but I have seen worse that I dont think I could have cleaned so successfully.

I too would like mine cleaned. Ages ago the old coolant was red and now I use the green stuff.
