Guys just wondering how some of you go about removing the clutch fan.
I brought a 32MM spanner and ground a few mm off it to make it skinnier and fit. I have tried using the biggest flat blade i have to jam between the water pump pulley bolts to give some leverage the other direction but..... bent it many times. I have sprayed it with penetrating fluid a few times giving it time to settle. Some pointers or a different way to go about it would be great! Thanks.

Do you know that the fan is left hand thread,
I normally give it a good tap with a hammer, A good jar should loosen it, Scotty

Yep i checked the thread on another water pump.
Standing in front of the car i was turning spanner clockwise??? Its too late now to grind but i have designed a bracket which will bolt on using 2 of the water pulley bolts which will give me excellent leverage against the spanner. Will post a pic tomorrow arvo after i finish work and make it up Cheers

if your handy you could make the genuine ford tool up
Attachment: You make it long enough that it sits on the protuding bit of the power steering pulley (in the middle) the old man is a Ford mechanic and this is how we remove mine... This way the holder supports itself and you can use two hands on the nut to get extra leverage... Cheers, Tim

XRFairmont...
Thats not cheap... That's called Genius Something those lines though... I like the custom spanner though... Never seen that before... As I said though the holder is common to ford dealerships... Cheers, Tim

The gregories has directions to make the spanner to hold the water pump so you can get the nut undone, but it doesn't mention making it long enough to be propped under the power steer bracket.
I made myself the spanner as per the gregories, that i thought I'd use only once, and bought the proper 32mm spanner, ABW tools, because i didn't have the time to make a 32mm spanner. I have since used them a number of times (wrecking car's or working on friends cars) and have been grateful to have them. Cheers ToranaGuy
