Colonel Flashman, is that the same I6 as in our Aussie Fords? Ours are 4.0Ltrs standard. (about 244ci)
low_ryda, I'm also curious to see what 0+ means

low_ryda, I'm also curious to see what 0+ means that would be a '70's pushrod 250 or 300 at a guess, without going back through all the posts on here to find the first mention. Interesting and informative, but Joe's donk will be substantially dirrerent. Nothing in common apart from the bore centres and possibly the slug & rod sizes, if the donor engine is a 250. Nothing in common at all if it's a 300. 0+ = $3000 instead of $300 for the mathematically-challenged...

low_ryda, I'm also curious to see what 0+ means They were known as 300c.i. I-6s until, I believe '86, when for some idiotic reason the 300 was re-designated the 4.9Ltr. Which if one does the math, it's actually a 5.0Ltr, but then it would have been confused w/ the 302c.i. v8 now called the 5.0Ltr. Not from your description, this is the '65-'72 series of 300c.i. I-6s that were popular in trucks for its low down Grunt & its baby brother is the under powered 240c.i. I-6 used in Mid-sized cars as well as in trucks. They were both 1st Intro'd in '65 to replace the last of the 223c.i. I-6 & its big brother the 262c.i. I-6.

300ci only equates to 4916cc, so 4.9L is correct.
The 302 is only 4948cc, still not quite 5.0L, but closer.
