I think he was honing out a fairbit from the block and using bigger pistons, crank ect

Sounds good joe, which model engine would they be? (Au I hope) I was going to ask you about head and cam pacage, might possibly get it with a 4.5L, haha
What sort of price would we be looking at for the 4.5? |

Yeah if the prices are alright and motor seems reliable I will be straight down to the get the AU fited.

joe can use any engine you would like him to use to build for you.

4.5 litres is heaps, and a lot more realistic in real world use. good work cms, hope the engine is a belter. do you expect a much higher rpm limit with the srtonger bottom end and less undersquare configuration?
would 6.5k rpm safely be feasable do you think joe?

Any rough pricing so we know how much it will be worth to build this bottem end???

if your chasing ultimate power then it will be worth the price as i dont think you will get the power without it..
what about boosted applications? would this bottom end be suitable? as stroked V8's seem to go hand in hand with boost |

it was mentioned many pages back that the crank and rods will be suitable for N/A and boost so it will be good to also see what hp there rated at
From my mates getting custom crank and rods made for a V8 engine i can see the bottem in just crank, rods and pistons being 3k and thats having the crank made locally and rods and pistons overseas. But it was mentioned that everything is being made offshore so possibly cheaper but i can definatly see the value in this stroker i6 for many of us

I cant be sure, but I dont think the stroke of the motor will change a heck of a lot. I think most of the CC increase is from heavy bore widening. all in all it makes a lot of sense, as it would rev better being less undersquare.
the stock stroke is 99.3mm (3.90944 inches) from memory, plenty long enough. widen the stock bore to 98mm (3.85826 inch) and you have roughly 274 cui or 4.49l this is then pretty square and should rev a bit higher, and harder. Im not sure if theres any room to have a longer stroke in the sohc i6.

Very true by adding an extra 2mm there will be alot of pistons available and something has got 2 be off the shelf that will fit onto a E series Rod or even a rod that will go onto a ford crank.
Apparently there is a chev rod that fits in a AU engine but dont know how true it is

thats not possible guys, if you have been following this thread, going to 4.8 litres has reliability issues with the amount taken out of the block.
100mm bore with the stock stroke would take the engine to 4.76litre. which is around what I think joe would have already been using in the 4.8.

most chevs, fords, holdens etc are a 4" bore which is 101.6mm. By boring the I6 that far, you would end up in the adjacent cylinder.
